Coconut Buttermilk Syrup

Sick and tired of pancakes and syrup? Try this syrup and LOVE your pancakes again! 

Coconut Buttermilk Syrup

1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon coconut flavoring

 Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the sugar and stir until incorporated. Then add the buttermilk and mix well.
 Whisk in the baking soda. It will start to foam up. Remove from heat and add the coconut flavoring. 
I have a daughter that won't even touch a pancake, waffle, or french toast without this syrup.

Refrigerate leftover syrup in a jar. I like to double the recipe so I always have it on hand. It is best right after you make it, but still tastes great heated up at a later date.
