Especially after a long day of fixing things, and the kids go to bed, and the house is quiet, and I can eat as many as I want and not gain weight...

I don't love store bought brownie mixes. I used to. They are gooey, gummy and just glump. Seriously, after you start making things homemade, you WILL taste the difference, and NEVER go back. Brownies are SO easy to make, you'll wonder why you haven't been doing it and have been settling for glump- even though right now it is all you know. So if you don't plan on making homemade brownies forever, then you better not make them even once, because after that you will only see "box" brownies as glump. I've given the dry portion of this recipe away as a "jar mix". It's fun to layer the colors in a Mason jar. You could do the same for yourself if you know you are busy. Just make a couple jars and store them in your cupboard- wala! Brownie Mix in a jar ready when you are! This recipe is actually doubled, so if you want to put it in a jar for later you'll have to half it or put it in a larger container.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Spray 9 by 13 pan with non- stick spray

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/3 cup brown sugar
1 1/3 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2/3 cup cocoa
1 cup chocolate chips

6 eggs
1 1/3 cups vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix the dry stuff.

Mix the wet stuff. Mix the wet stuff with the dry stuff. Pour the mixed stuff into a greased 9 by 13 pan and place in preheated oven. (350) Bake for 35-40 minutes. Let cool until you just have to eat the stuff.

Eat all the stuff if you want. Just make sure the kids are asleep. I like the corners and I'm not afraid to put a picture of a corner brownie on my blog.

P.S. Brownies cut better with a plastic knife.

  2. I'm so excited to try these! I have a recipe for homemade brownies but they are a lot more work, you have to boil water add it to this let that set. This looks even better!
