Independence Day on the Ranch

I'm not one for large crowds or getting my kids dressed up in matching patriotic clothes to go to town on the 4th of July. I know a lot of people who are so crafty, make cute hair bows and matching shirts. They do the cutest things with their girls' hair and everyone looks perfect. I kinda wish I was like that because I'd love the perfect family picture. I didn't inherit many creative genes though. This year we spent Independence Day just the way I love.

We went down to the pond for a refreshing dip! It was a blast!

Cannon ball contest!

I asked everyone to pose, but of course there's always one that refuses to follow suite.

Then the kids discovered a ton of tiny frogs. They spent almost an hour catching them and then turned them loose.

Grandma fell in, and what did I do? I take a picture and then help her.

Our fourth of July BBQ consisted of pork chops, chicken, beef sirloin, and T-bones.

The neighbors came over and watched our fireworks with us. For the first time we decided to buy some fireworks instead of going to town to watch them. It was way fun and  I'm thinking this is a new ranch tradition!

After fireworks we did smorz by the fire. I must be getting old because they were SO sweet! Oh well, happy Independence Day America! I am proud to be an American, and am grateful for those who have sacrificed so much for my freedom. God bless America, land of the free, home of the brave!
